Highwoods Country Park run an annual programme of environmental themed activities and events for children and families.   Environmental activities offered throughout the year and are managed by the Countryside Rangers team. 


The aim of the environmental children's activities is to educate children about the natural world around them and to encourage a respect and love of their local countryside and the wildlife within it.

Practical activities are combined with related craft activities.  

Within each session, children will learn about the natural world using the resources of the local countryside, learning how to look after and respect 
Learning Destination activities include
  • Pond Dipping
  • Minibeast Hunting
  • Den Building
  • Christmas Crafts
Additionally, a Young Rangers Club  (for children aged 12-15) runs during the school summer holidays.

Family activities are also very popular:
  • Bat evenings
  • Moth evenings
  • Butterfly & Insects
  • Fungal Forays
  • Wildlife Walks
Activities are designed for children aged 4+
